Use Room Separation Lines. In Wall Properties, uncheck Room Bounding.

Can you shed some light on what is happening when you are placing Rooms, that is making it frustrating? Something definitely not right in that screenshot- on that face of it.
Better to solve that issue- than have to manually define Room Boundaries with Room Separation Lines.
See if there are hidden Room Separation Lines in the View.
VG>Model Categories>Lines>Room Separation--make sure it is checked.
Also, use "light bulb" tool to Reveal Hidden Elements--see if Room Separation Lines are hidden.
Rooms in Revit are like a teenagers' sleeping quarters -- a malodorous, unruly mess, that a sane person would avoid entering.

If you do not want Revit to apply area rules, on the Modify | Place Area Boundary tabDraw panel (Apply Area Rules), clear Apply Area Rules, and specify the offset.
are you searching for this?
without apply area rules, it won't auto move between wall intorier or center anymore.
