Edit Assembly on to A3 Sheet

Hello,

I have done two details of a 'Roof Construction' and a 'Floor Construction'. I was just wondering whether there is a tool that i could use to get the 'Edit Assembly' Window onto my A3 sheet, to show all the elements that are within the roof anf wall construction.

Hope you can help.

Thanks

The quickest and easiest way would be to do a snip/screengrab of your assembly and save it as either a JPEG or PNG (Lossless file format). From the Insert tab, Import panel, you will then be able to add the assembly image to your sheet. Be very careful with the amount of images you add to the project though, as therse Raster images will add a lot of weight to your project. Note that the Raster Image will not update if your wall/floor assembly updates. You will have to manually update it, should one of the latter change

I thought I could achieve the same purpose with a schedule, but I cannot figure how to sort them to match the construction.

I suggest to use a Material Takeof of an Isolated Wall ( it could also be a Floor, Roof or other Assembly) :

  • apply Temporary Isolate the Wall you want and then check Apply Hide/Isolate to View
  • select the Wall and from Properties >Identity Data > Mark - I called it
  • View >Schedules > Material Takeof > Wall
  • In schedule use the Field Mark to filter the walls so to appear only the choosed wall , and create a new Field > Material Thicknes as a Calculated Value ( Material:Volume/Material:Area)
  • If there are material that is is more than one layer , create duplicate of materials so to be shown every layer..

continuing my idea (by mistake I sent my first comment under the name Costelo ,wich is another logo of mine but not for the forum) if you want to keep the order as in Edit Assembly , then , you can introduce another Field - I used a Material Description to do it..

Constantin,

That's what I did, for my thickness value... calculated value = Material: Volume / Material: Area. Good idea for the sort order. Only one problem, I cannot get the schedule to pick up any zero thickness membrane layer that might be in the wall structure.

I'm afraid I do not understand very well what you mean....the 0,0 thickness layer appears in schedule . As Material Volume is 0,0 , that number divided by any other number ( except 0,0) is 0,0...

Are you speaking about selecting an item in schedule and highlighting in the detail 3d view?

I see my problem. I first turned the wall into parts, then created an assembly of those parts, and finally made an assembly takeoff schedule. The problem is that no part was created for the zero thickness membrane layers.

If I make a wall takeoff schedule instead, it works fine.
