  • Hi. We architects rarely have more than 3 small sections on one sheet, as shown. That s why we have created 3 separate families as A-A, B, C.

For more flexibility, is there a way to create a similar family, yet allows us to duplicate sub-family type (inside project),  key in DIRECTLY the label either as A, B or whatever. (Currently we have to open the family outside project, edit the label, and bring in as new family.)

Anyone?

Use label, not text, in the generic annotation family, so that you can change the value directly in the project for each instance.

It s not a rocket science but I couldn't make it to work, so I guess I'm not a scientist.

Attached is the family so you can help point out where is the problem.

Do not make your dummy section family a Detail Item, make it a Generic Annotation.  Then adding a Label will be an option.

Or, in your current family, add an instance text parameter to the family, and then tie the WH parameter in your generic annnotations that currently display the "A" text and you will be able to set the value in a project when the detail item is added.
