Door/ Windows families _ swing panel

Hello all,

Do you use a nested family for the swing panel?

Until now I create the swing in the parent family with symbolic lines with an angle parameter.

Any example would be helpful.

I'm betting that you are getting tired of drawing detail lines to show door and window swing in plan.  I bet you are thinking there is a better way. There is: Parametric Detail Families that you can nest into the host.  It's the Draw once and use in many Approach.  

Just a thought.

You guessed right, and I am also thinking that for some walkthrough I would like to have the door open in 3D.

I have some questions concerning my family below:

1. In the nested swing family I should also create the profiles in the two sides? [Image 1 ], because now the representation is not correct..

2. if I change the middle part of the door. do I neeed each time to adapt the swing family also?

Reverse engineer the attached family.  I think it addresses some of your queries.

- nested detail family with parametric swing angle & forcing existing door to 45 degree

- nested panels with a family type parameter to select different styles

But I don't know if I should also create the profiles and the detail items in the swing family,  as the whole part open ,  in order to have a good representation.
