Door Tag/Schedule Issue

I am fairly new to Revit, and am working on creating a door schedule. I created a pocket door family, and inserted it into my model in two locations. When I went to tag them, they had two different "mark" numbers, even though they are identical. I would like them to show up under the same "mark" number, but am not sure how to do that. When I tried to manually change the mark number of one of them to match the other, an error comes up. Help!

Most likely, the door tag is showing the Mark parameter, which is an instance id. for the door. You need to open the door tag and edit the label to work with the Type Mark parameter instead. After that, several instances of the same door will show the same type id.

Hmmm, I thought I understood what you meant, until I tried. Again, I'm very very new to Revit, and need a little more direction. Even though I changed the field in my schedule to "mark type", the "mark" tag is still showing in my model. You said to click on the tag to change it to reference "mark type", but I can't see where to do that. I have very limited options: orientation, leader, but not the one you mentioned. It also still shows twice in my schedule.

Okay, I figured out that I have to edit the door tag family to get it to read the "type mark" - but it's still showing up twice in my schedule. How do I get rid of that second instance, and just show the count on a single row to two?

You said you inserted the door "in 2 locations". So, don't you need to tag both doors in your plans?

About how to show the count in a single row, that can be done in schedules, but that count is not related to the number of tags in the view, but to the number of doors in the model.

Yes, I am aware that the schedule "count" references the number of doors.

Maybe I need to explain myself better:

- I have two of the same exact door in my model

- Yes, I have tagged both instances of this door

- The tags now represent the "type mark", as you helped me with, so both tags show the same number without error

My ongoing issue is with the schedule, not the model:

-My door is labeled under "type mark" as "D.2"

-One row in the schedule shows door type D.2 with a count of 1.

-Another row in the schedule shows door type D.2 with a count of 1.

-See my problem? I want a single row with a count of 2, since it's all the exact same information.

I have attached a screenshot

In the Sorting and Grouping tab of the Schedule Properties, uncheck "Itemize every instance".
