Yes correct terminology is important but we will figure it all out...
So AutoCAD is totally different from Revit. While I would normally ask the moderator to put your post in the AutoCAD forum - I think I can answer your question... the attached image shows the draw panel in acad... it does not technically dock except into the ribbon. You can have it in your draw window so it is always available no matter which tab you are on.
Did you know you can dock the entire ribbon to the left or right side of your screen? If you right click in the area of the Tabs (but not on a Tab) you can select the undock which will make it floating and you can then dock the ribbon to the left or right side. Just another option...
Now I am assuming you are using the ribbon - are you on classic acad?
