Displaying walls to be demolished

Anonymous
Not applicable

I want to display existing walls set to demolish when I am in the New and Existing Construction phase.

First I created a Revit project with phase set to existing. When I change the properties of existing walls to demolish they change to dashed lines. That's great. When I set the phase to new constriction, the existing walls to demolish are not visible. I want to see them. What do I Do?

In Phase Filter, choose option : Show All

If you have the options: Show Complete or Show New, the Demolished entities will not appear

I want the demolished entities to appear along with new construction. Why? Because a remodel job is evolutionary as the design is developed. Having to change to existing phase to view walls to demolish is not useful because the new construction is not visible. If I want to demo just a portion of an existing wall it is useful to see where new walls will be positioned.

In summary, I want to see the dashed walls to be demolished and to née new construction at the same time. Can it be done?

That setting is not working for me. I wonder the phase filters or graphics overides need to be changed under Manage > Phases settings. see my settings in the attached .png file

what you demonstrated is beyond my area of expertise. I am an architect, not a computer program customizer.  If that is what it takes to display walls to be demoed on the same drawing as walls to be constructed, I'll figure something else. Thank you for your interest is assisting me.

How many Phases do you have?

Is the Phasing of the existing walls to be demolished set the same as below?

Phase created: Existing

Phase demolished: New Construction

If so, it should work.

Have a look at my screeencast:

I've made here a new Phase Filter to show how override works .....

Maybe it could help you somehow....

Thank you! I will give that a try. One question, when you changed a wall to demo, could you have just gone to the bottom of the properties for that object and change the "Phase Demolished" to existing? Anyway, i will create the new phase filter and see if I can duplicate what you illustrated. Thanks.

That combination of phase and phase filter does not work for me. The demo walls don't display. My phase filter parameters may be wrong. Can you view the image attached to my previous post and compare those settings to yours?

If you want to demolish an Existing one then you are doing it in New Construct : Phase Demolished > New Construct  ( the phase in which you proceed with demolition)

  • If you choose Phase Demolished >Existing - that means that in Existing Phase you demolish something built in the same phase -Existing phase - that means that , in fact , you do not build it at all.
  • If you choose Phase Demolished >New Construction, that means that you have something already built in the first faze - Existing , and you demolish that thing in a next phase - the New Construct phase

Pay attention at Phase Filters : Demolished > NOT TO BE set on Not Displayed ( for Show Complete , Not Displayed is by default setting). The Phase Filter made in my screencast ( Complet+Demo) has the Demolished to Overridden

The phase filter you showed is perfectly fine.  Your existing walls to be demolished must be created under Existing phase, and demolished under New Construction
