Direct Shape missing from FBX export

Hi

The walls in this file export to FBX. But the Direct Shapes do not export. How can I get the Direct Shapes to export too?

I am wondering if those shape you cannot export are imported from other CAD or 3d software and explode as Revit object? It doesn't have much of a property except vague categorized as Generic Model. I tried opening the Revit file in Naviswork and 3ds max, it won't show those exploded object. Even exporting the file to CAD also don't show those object. However if you export it out as IFC, you are able to use those object and link it into Revit as objects.

Hi - These elements are Revit Direct Shape elements that were created with the Revit API.

A Direct Shape is an open mesh ie: they are UFOs when it comes to exporting to various formats. DirectShape API was mainly developed to support specific workflows / inter-functionality for IFC .

You either need to convert them to Polimesh or sold geometries. There are various ways to do that

1. Use Dynamo (there are several packages that can do the above)
2. Isolate / export to IFC / then use the .RVT file generated when the IFC is linked

Not sure how to answer that question! Dynamo is a visual programming application...In Dynamo you can access Revit API.

Question is: Are the room boundaries native Revit rooms? and is there a specific reason for the conversion to shapes using DirectShape API?

Just noticed the GIF didn't upload in previous reply...see below how I would work it out if the rooms are native Revit elements. If they were imports from Ryhno or some other program, it would be more or less the same workflow but strating from a .Obj or an SAT instead of Revit Room Elements
