Dimensions delete when linked models update

Hi, I use multiple pieces of software and then bring everything together in revit via IFCs to produce the drawings.

The problem I have is that when these geomety changes the dimensiosn delete which is very difficult to have to check every drawing continuously.  Is there a way to make dimensions stay in their original position which i can then change on review?

Inventor has a function where they change colour to magenta which you then now these need to changing.  Is there a way for this to occur in revit or a different way / workaround to resolve this entirely?

I think this difficult one as Revit dimensions are dynamic and model driven normally so if they are no long correct Revit sees them as unnecessary and you often get this message!

Maybe an option to try and fix them automatically or even manually and delete those which have not been updated by greying out all other irrelevant information would be nice option to have.

The advice from Autodesk is more guided to dimensions in the relevant models;

To resolve the issue, try one of the following solutions:

  • Make sure that all users in the project always reload all linked Revit files before synchronizing changes to the central model.
  • Alternatively, keep dimensions in the same model files where there referenced elements reside - Place the dimensions for linked elements directly in the linked Revit models.

I would suggest you add it to the Ideas Community Forum as its a great suggestion!!

Thanks Jay,

I suspected there wasnt a solution as ive treied various methods myself.  The problem is every time i create an IFC i would need to dimension everything from scratch and thats not workable.  I will see about adding this to the ideas community.
