Diagonal riser not counting on a U-Shaped Stair

Hi, after drawing my u-shaped stair using model lines and draw it's boundaries i'm trying to add the risers but the risers on the diagonal are not counting up. What should i do to make it work ? Thank you.riser diagonal.png

See attached file.  Every step counts and the plan looks okay.  The 3d has some defects at the pointy corners so youc an choose to live with those or add a tiny bit of dimension to the corner.

Now isn't this a heck of a lot better looking stair! In fact, this actually looks like something that could be precast and delivered to the job site.

Ever create an In-Place Component?  That's what I used.

 

The In-Place Component is a series of joined extrusions that were based on the ugly geometry that Revit produced when I created Monolithic Stairs from your Model Line layout.  I sketched the outlines for the extrusions on Work Planes that were found by picking a plane on the existing Monolithic Stairs (Work Plane=>Set=>Pick a Plane).  Three separate extrusions was all it took. I modified the Structural Depth  slightly from the Mono design, joined them altogether to remove the visible edge between them, and clicked "Finish".  Voila!  Just a few minutes of easy breezy work to create something that actually looks like it could be precast and delivered to the job site.   

 

p.s.  you could do it as a Family too. Also, you can add parameters to make it flex.  Ain't Revit grand! Smiley Wink

Ì couldn't do it using the original model lines (without move them a little bit) like you said you did.

Do you have any idea what i did wrong following your video instructions ?

It didn't generate the stair even after changing from smooth to stepped.

The problem is that i really cant change the architect original design, i'm just converting from autocad to revit. It must follow those green lines like this:18022019 02.PNG

You can follow those green lines.. 

but differentiate between

1. Boundray ( green lines )

2. riser ( black lines )

3. path ( blue )

I'm not too sure, I was using your file, so it should have worked.

If you must model the stairs exactly the same as the CAD lines, I recommend that instead of spending days try to model it as a proper stairs, just use Model in place.

What do you think?

Sure i could do that using individual masses but i really would like to learn how to make a proper stair without jerry-rig since i will send the RVT  to other ppl so they can make the structure and the finishing. @ToanDN design looks perfect but need a few adjustments to fit in place but i really don't know how he did that (i just copy and paste his stair design into location).

You can edit my stair, click on a run or a landing and edit sketch to see. You should rebuild it to match your design.

I did it @ToanDN but how can i change the actual riser height ? i need to change it from 0.1667 to 0.175 in order to make it work as you can see on 3D but the values are locked (grey). Thanks

See attached:

- Select the stair and change the Desired stair height and Desired number of risers from properties

- Edit stair and modify the sketch to match the above.

Hover your mouse over each riser, one of the risers says boundary, not riser. Once you change that one stair the counting of risers continues.
