This may be a stupid question but on the picture below it shows the detail lines of the decking area, I have spent hours trying to out how to do this does anybody know how to show the detail lines of the decking on the floor plans without the graphics being changed to realistic?

all depends on how it was drawn. the times I have shown decking, i actually built the deck out of Dimensional Lumber families. to save time I will occasionally use a "Floor" family and set the material to something like Oak Flooring. you can also copy a material like the Oak Flooring Material and change the foreground surface pattern and color to what ever you want. I world recommend using a Model pattern (wood board, wood board Wide, etc.).

it was pointed out by a college of mine that you may want to be seeing the wood grain? if that's the case use the Foreground/Background option for surface patterns. make the foreground the panels and the background the wood grain at a lighter color.
