I have to create some really detailed wall joins which can be scheduled to calculate material cost. My question has nothing to do with schedules & take-offs directly. It is the actual modelling of these wall joins. I am currently using Revit 2018 for the project. The issues I have is that the hierarchy system for joins has a limit of 5 options (wish this would increase). I tried creating the wall join as a column with some strange results which don't work. I have also tried to model different walls (with required layers) in portions. it works fine for 1 will join, but the moment you start adding a 3rd element it starts producing strange results. I could try modelling individual wall layers but this is a time consuming exercise when placing windows and doors in these walls and then making sure openings align...
If a 2D overlay is the best way forward, what would be the best way to schedule material in the joins ? Any options or suggestions welcome.
Attached is the project simplified show the column for the wall Join & the Wall types with my attempts and creating correct wall joins. Please see detail required below.
