design options basics?

i want to create several roof options for a house. i know you can do that through design options but have been unable to find a tutorial or any explanation as to how to use this feature. i've been able to set up the different options, but need to know how to change the option my existing roof is associated with. then i'm assuming i can start to draw the other roofs within their associated option. help?

The 2009 tutorials have a section on design options. In fact the example is
different roof/trellis options for a design.

i'm working in revit 2010, and can't figure out what i need from the 2009 tutorial. does anyone know how to edit the design option a single element is under? that's really all i need to know. i think i can figure out the rest.

To move an object from one option to another you can use cut and paste. The
option instance parameter is not somehting you can directly change. It is
established when/where the object is instantiated.

If you have access to 2009 AU online there is a great class that covers design options and phasing. The number is:

Do you want to 'activate' a Design Option that a particular element resides
in, or are you trying to add an element to a design option(s)?
