Dashed lines not showing up above counter

Hello all!

Hopefully there is an easy answer for this.

The issue is that the hidden lines from a undercounter dishwasher and a drawer casework unit  are not showing above the benchtop. I have created these lines as symbolic lines and have checked the "draw in foreground" option in the properties.

All the families be it specialty equipment and casework have been created in the same way but some show the lines and others don't. Heights differ but all of the families are under the benchtop.

I know that I can use the "Show hidden lines" option in the view tab but I have multiple views and doing that manually would take so much time.

Please see the image to see what I am referring to: https://postimg.cc/KkTM2Vfb

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Set the work plane to the top of the counter when you draw those symbolic dashed lines and then set them to background, not foreground.

Sorry do you mean the work plane? Yeah I have tried that, didn't fix the issue.  Also weird that the ones that are actually working their lines are on Ref: Level. I have attached a test file is you want to see (RVT2019).

You can try to save a view template in which modify the "Show Hidden Lines" parameter, and then apply this view template to those that needed to be modified.

The one on the right looks good! That's great!

The casework on the left doesn't seem to work.

How did you get the dishwasher family to work?

@martinlopez7Z4BZ

That is the downside of specialty equipment...

Option 1: Change their Category

Option 2: Use the old trick of adding an invisible mode line in the family to make it believe that it is cut when loaded into the project

Option 3: Add a reference plane in the Specialty equipment @ Workbench height (give it a name)...then Select the symbolic lines >>> Edit workplane and set to the new workplane + uncheck draw in foreground

The "Show Hidden Lines" from properties? The options are none, by discipline and all.

At the moment it's by discipline, is this is one I would need to modify? Is it possible to modify it?

I did not touch the left one.

I fixed the dishwasher with the settings I typed in the 1st reply above.  Open the model, edit the family and you will see.  It is straightforward.  Then you can do the same to the other family.

This method is to deal with the "manually" problem, in which you mentioned "I know that I can use the "Show hidden lines" option in the view tab but I have multiple views and doing that manually would take so much time."

Thank you so much for adding the gifs with the steps required to make it work.

You mentioned changing category, are there specific category where you don't have to do this?
