Server Accelerator Problem- Revit 2019.2

Hello everybody,

I have currently met a Problem with my Revit model. Recently I cannot work on my file anymore nor through the Cisco Server connection nor on my alias local copy, since a message appears regarding a problem with the Server Connection. I excuse myself if my question has already been posted, I have quickly researched on the forum but could not really find out a solution to my problem.

I have also contacted the Bim manager, we checked that the server connection works and that apparently what is missing is the right path to the server inside the Revit software, in fact, if I open the window „Manage connection to a Revit server accelerator“ under the collaborate menu, there is a red cross and no path, and if I try to write it still not working.

I checked also the Firewall with the IT Assistant but unfortunately is not a problem connected to the firewall.

Can anybody give me feedback in this regard? What should I check in order to find out where the real issue lies?

Also, this is my first shared project with other teams which I am doing through a server, but I still do not understand why I cannot work on my local copy. If the problem is linked to the server connection failure, shouldn´t I in theory be able to work on my local copy? I tried to work both with the cisco on and off since actually, the server works well, but in either case, I cannot work on my local copy.

I will attach some images as references.

Thank you for any comments and feedback you might have,

Best regards to all

You can't use your local copy without connection to the center model, for it need to check many things to make sure you have the right to modify it such as elements, views, etc.

Do you use a Revit server accelerator to connect to the server or just directly in the past when everything went right? Maybe you can try to ping the IP of the Revit server accelerator/Revit Server, and make sure the network is OK. If there is no problem about this, try to check the RSN.ini file(C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Revit Server <version>\Config\RSN.ini) in your computer, and see if the IP is correct. Then if it doesn't work, you may ask your BIM manager or IT Assistant to check if the services of Revit Server on both accelerator and host are working.

Good luck!

Hello,

Thank you very much for the quick and detailed feedback.

Unfortunately, I have gone through all the passages that you described together with the IT Manager of the client and of my office and, everything is working fine.
We double-check the Server by ping the IP of the Revit server accelerator/Revit Server, and the network is OK. Also, the RSI.ini file has the right name of the IP of the server connection, what is missing is the path inside the Revit accelerator and if I try to type it in (the number or the name of the IP of my server, it does not matter) it appears the same message about this problem.
By the way, really  I  can not work locally?  This is sad, I thought I could work on my local copy even without the connection and then make it central as soon as the server connection would have worked...this way is practically impossible to work, with or without connection is like I have a copy which I cannot use. The old way of exchanges files might have been slow but better for the proceeding of the work :enttäuschtes_Gesicht:

Anyway, I thank you really overall and for the last advice, I will try to ask one of them about this.

If anybody has some other feedback I appreciate

Best regards,
FL

Well, it will work if you are the only person who use the center model, that when you open your local file and select detatch from the center model, and save it as center on your own computer which will get all of the rights of all workset and other things. And after the net work restore, you can save as the model as center and replace the fomer one. But becareful it's only apply to the circumstance that no otherone is using the same center model.

Considering the situation that I prefer to think your revit server program on the accelerator server is not working properly or not set correctly(for example not set as accelerator or some application service is not working). Does anyone else also use it, and it works but just not work on yours?

@Toph3

Pinging is not really sufficiant to say all is functioning properly...you need to verify the following:

  1. (In Windows Server manager) all Revit Server role and role service prerequisites are properly installed
  2. Verify that the Revit Server Application Pool is running.
  3. When you browse any of the *.svc files do you get any error "Handler 'svc-Integrated' has a bad module 'ManagedPipelineHandle'" in its module list," if you do, then you will need to repair your .NET installation.

NOTE: I have notified the moderators to move your post to Installation and Licensing. The guys there are more focused on such issues.
