Curtain Wall Profile as a BIM Object

Hi, I want to create a curtain wall parts as a Bim object. But I want to add all of the details; screws, brackets, gaskets, bolts and the other details which exist in a real curtain wall. A designer will make a design using my bim object and when I create a quantity sheet, I want to check all of the parts that I should produce or provide. How can I do that, is it possible with Revit? Thanks

Hi.
There are several ways:
- you can search for families for Revit from real manufacturers (for example from bimobject.com)
- you can make your own custom curtain wall in Revit
- or you can use Add-Ins (for example "Smart Details" from Agacad) + standart Revit curtaim wall

Yes, that is the main point. I will produce the profiles considering the schedule list

I would not model the small parts and fasteners that you mention - I would add them to the component family as text or number parameters, so that they appear in the schedule. In details, I would represent them with detail lines and components.

In principle yes you can by nesting all the parts into the Curtain wall insert, schedule them (shared parameters) and control the parts selection from the production schedule. Is it recommendable to do it in Revit? There are definitely platforms that does a better job for fabrication so I would say

1. Not recommended to use in a building/construction project (too heavy and complicated to handle). In such case what @Sahay_R proposed might be preferable...BIM isn't about breaking down the elments of a model down to that level of parametric detailing
2. For a Curtain Wall specialist who is treating the curtain wall itself as a project ...Yeah why not 🙂 one can do it for the fun of it lol. (example below - If you are a CW specialist, probably you might be able to identify the system/profile manufacturer from the images. )

The end product of the CW insert has 56 (customizable) scheduled parameters and roughly 280 nested element covering almost everything which can be fitted in/on that insert including symbols to identify any provisions for attachments from 3rd party manufacturers. The Profile family was less dramatic...
