Curtain Wall/Panel

Hi

There is a panel I can't replace it with a void option.

I created a Curtain Wall with -20 degree, I want to remove a panel of existing (the big one in the center). I selected and then I clicked on Edit in Place, I selected Void from the Properties Panel and Finish Model, I had a message window with 1 option is to delete the Panel which is what I did(photo 4), Then I received another window message of Empty Family (photo 5), I chose Yes to continue, to have a new error message about missing a Panel with 1 option, which is to replace it (photo 6). I have this same problem and the same messages with both Curtain Wall Exterior Glazing and Storefront. I suppose I will have the same result with Curtain Wall Type too so I didn't try it.

Many Thanks.

The type selector in the properties palette is gray (not available), nothing happens when I click on it as long the panel is selected. It will be available when I deselect the panel. (it may be more clear in the video attached file).

Strange. I don't know what's going with your Curtain Wall/File.  I think it's corrupted.

What I suggest, is to Clipboard Copy/Paste the Curtain Wall to a New Project, delete the Panel and let Revit replace it automatically with another System Panel. Select that replacement Panel and replace it with the Empty System Panel from the Type Selector drop-down as shown below.

First, you can't select the curtain panel type because that panel is a model-in-place panel. Simply delete it and Revit will replace it with a system panel.

After that, load this family into your project.

This empty panel family can be used as long as the panel is a rectangular shape.

So it will not work here, because your panel is not rectangular, Revit will replace it back into a system panel.

But you can still use the Model-in-place method.

Select the system panel ->Edit in-place -> Uncheck the visible -> Done

If you want to bring the system panel back, go to the Project Browser under Family\Curtain Panels, find that specific curtain panel and delete it.

Thank you for your support. I also have the same problem in Edit In Place. I may have a problem with my file of the software itself.

No, there is no problem with your file or your Revit.

By default, if you don't define the curtain panel,

bin_0-1592209317280.png, you can click on your curtain panel and change it to a different panel.

If you already set the curtain panel

bin_1-1592209489895.png, you can still select the panel, unpin it and change it into a different panel.

If you select the panel and click on Edit In-Place, Revit will convert this panel into an extrusion(Model In Place). The drop-down menu will be greyed out and you will not be able to change it into a different panel. You can just delete the panel and Revit will replace it with a system panel.

I believe you are confused because the "Empty System Panel" in your file is exactly the same as the System Panel. You need to load the Empty Panel from here:

The curtain wall stuff is quite confusing, but don't worry you will get there.

@bin: Non-system panel families cannot be used for non-rectangular panels.
