Curtain Wall Mullion Bug Adds Mullions

Revit 2019.2

Curtain Wall adds a horizontal mullion spontaneously at unpredictable times. I'll delete the grid, and then sometime later, I'll notice the mullion has reappeared. The offending mullion is 3rd line from the top (about 8 inches above the doors).

Any advice is appreciated!

Well, it must be adding a grid as well, since mullions need a grid to host to. You say you deleted the grid? Yep, that's weird.  I'm not convinced it's a "BUG!" though. Have you ruled out it being a loose nut behind the keyboard?

Share a screen capture of the instance and type properties or better yet, copy to clipboard and paste it into a empty project and attach it here.

Check you curtain wall type and set Horizontal grid layout to None.

If you try deleting that horizontal grid (8in above door), then adjust size of curtainwall a bit. It will reappear.

It’s probably because that grid is added by your internal horizontal mullion setting. 

For example if you have your internal horizontal mullion at 1500 fixed height, you will automatically get the first one at 1500 and the second at 3000, so you unpinned your 3000 grid and delete it and add a 2700 grid for your door, next time you adjust the curtain wall height, it will recalculate and add that 3000 grid back. 

I might be wring because it’s too early to get out of my bed to test. 

What you might able to fix this is either remove the internal horizontal mullion in the Type setting, or instead of delete the 3000 mullion, just keep it and adjust the height to 2700 to use it for the door.

That grid is by design, your 8' horizontal grid spacing setting. It has to be un-pinned to delete it. When you stretch the curtain wall Revit is putting it back in because it is supposed to be there, the stretch doesn't respect that override. You should delete the extra grid at the top of the doors, that's an override, added to the wall outside of the pattern defined in type properties. After deleting it you can unpin the curtain grid above and move it down the 8" to put it back where you want it.

Or...just remove the horizontal grid pattern (and all the grids/mullions in the process) and manually place all the horizontal grids wherever you need them.
