Crop Large Project File

Is there a simple way to crop large project files?

An example:

If I want to send a contractor the complete Revit information for only a portion of a much larger project. Recently we got an electrical engineer to make submission drawings for an electrical room upgrade. We are both using Revit so seemed simple enough the problem is our file is 120+mb and he only needs a small portion of that file. Even if the file size wasn't a problem there is also proprietary information contained in the file that I would prefer not to have to send (with or without signed non-disclosure agreements).

How I have been doing this is to place a scope box (as a visual guide) and manually deleting everything outside of that box in the 3D view. I then purge unused and send the file, dropping the size from 120mb to 18mb in the above example.

Any thoughts?

I ue similar technique. I create a crossing window around objects I want to keep. After selection I do (temporary) hide elements.

Remaining I delete. Do an unhide and clean up part where necessary, folowed by purging.

Please mention Revit version, especially when uploading Revit files.

Thanks EnlInt

I never thought to temporarily hide what I want to keep. I tried it with a secion box (in the 3D view), select everything and hide it than turned off the section box. A lot faster than how I was doing it but still not perfect.

Thanks for the tip though it will speed things up a bit.
