Creating new Area Schemes using Gross measurements, Boundaries outside the Wall

Hi,

I need to create new area schemes observing the GROSS are rules, placing the area boundary lines on the outside of the wall. Before, when I created a new area scheme, I have two projects that when you create a new area scheme Revit asks if you want to create gross or rentable but any new or different project go straight to rentable, placing the area boundary lines inside the walls. Can you help me with that?

The Rentable Area Scheme is modifiable.

Right, but when I create a new one, it creates one automatically with the Rentable measurements, area boundary inside the walls. It doesn't give you the option to create GROSS area measurements, area boundaries on teh exterior of the walls.

Just create a New Area scheme > name it Gross Too or whatever > create Area plans and Area boundaries > When placing Areas, set them to Store Area then the Area Boundary lines will adjust to the exterior side of the walls.

Redraw the boundary then.  Or am I missing something?  

...you know you can create Areas, Rooms and Spaces without any walls; right?

Its, so weird that I have two projects in 2021, and they still asking you if you want Rentable or gross, this is great! Which version changed this; do you know?

The point to have the boundary lines attached to the wall is that when you move the walls, the lines move with it, and then the calculations adjust automatically. this is great when you are designing/planning. If you need GSF, inside the wall is the wrong calculation.

It has always been the same.  It is how I have multiple Gross Area schemes in a project since I started using Revit.

Do you happen to know where to change the Name of the Area Type? like change it from Storage to FAR, or GSF?

No, Area Type names are hardcoded.  You need to use other parameter such as Name or Comments, or create your own parameter.

I have the same issue. I don't understand why the new area type doesn't give the option to select the calculation rule. It always creates only the rentable, which puts the lines on the inner side of the wall, which extends the time to fix it because you have to adjust the lines manually and can't use the walls.
