Hi Guys,

Anyone could help me with creating band beam in revit?  Layer panels with one panel longer than the others.

Please see picture below:

Thank you in advance!

The very simplest method would be to use one beam representing one layer and stack them on top of each other with Offsets from Level and then adjust the End Extension/Constraint for the Layer that needs the extension.  You could then Group them all together and reuse around the model and even Save the Group out of Revit to your own library for future use.

The full method would involve the use an existing beam Family (use one closely associated in material and category - Glulam Beam maybe?) and then using additional horizontal reference planes create a series of extrusions to replicate the layers and constrain them to existing and new reference planes and then create 2 extra vertical reference planes before and after the end of the beam for the Layer Extension and assign a Label/Parameter to drive that extension value again remembering to align/lock/constrain that that layer to these lines.

Test it in the family by editing the values of the Family Parameters to stretch and shrink the beam to see if it acts as intended.

I would download the manufacturer beam and customize it to fit your need

This is probably a more relevant link;

Metsä Wood free Revit families & other BIM objects (bimstore.co)

I would also check the Metsa website direct and always ask manufacturers for content if it is not available they are usually more than happy to help.

Kerto® LVL in Building information modeling (BIM) (metsagroup.com)

Thank you for your help! What about extending roof or floor panel layer? is it possible to do it?

It is possible. You just have to create layers of thickness and it will create your floor assembly. If you want to download the manufacturer's predefine thickness, you can check out website below

To clarify, you cannot do this directly in the Floor and Roof System Family!!!

You would need to create 2 separate instances of each, one with the main build up and then place another on top with the thickness of the extension part and draw this with a larger area.

So basically 2 Floors or Roofs on top of each other each with their own thickness and area requirements.

Again go directly to the manufacturer’s website for specification guidance as one of the link above is for a ceiling system that fixes to a CLT panel for fire protection.
