Create Error waning when placing a toilet over a beam

I know we have the "run interference check" used for clash/error detection for this purpose but thought I'd ask if there is a work around to show the "warning error" dialog window or better yet prevent my users from for example placing a toilet on top of a beam similar to the way the warning pops up when we place a wall inside another wall or when placing a window at a perpendicular wall. (insert conflicts with joined wall). I know my users should use the run check tool but its missed quit often.

My current work around is to add a extrusion in the frame family that protrudes 4' above the beam level and only visible when the view is set to course detail allowing them to visually see all errors at once in a Plan or 3D view.

Thx in advance for any suggestions.
Todd

Unfortunately your not going to be able to get this to work in Revit directly via setting/features etc.

The only way I can see of achieving this would be to create a dummy block ensuring it is a Structural Framing Category and Nest (load) it in the Toilet family that extends below the WC and so when placed you could get a warning of clashing of beams in same place or when a Clash Detection is run it would be flagged.  Not pretty but could work.

A suggestion in Revit would be to have an invisible boundary with editable dimensions which could be placed in a family which could have multiple categories associated to it warns when it is placed it interferes with said categories but imagine placing families and having a warning every time!!!

I've been working on the category thing as I type this. If I find a decent work around I'll post it.

Thx

Create a volume in the family representing the pipe coming down from the toilet so that clash detection will flag it when it clashes with a beam.

I added a extrusion to represent the waste pipe and that works fine using the interference check tool.

I was hoping for a immediate warning dialog pop up at placement for my firms end users but if they can't remember to run the check tool I guess I'll just have to do my job at review time. lol

Thx
