Hi friends
I down loaded a cove light file from this forum to use in my project but it does not show proper result. it does not show lights evenly distributed along the length of cove. It makes a dense spot in the center.
What is wrong, how to set it right ?
rendered image and cove light file are attached for reference.
Thanks

I haven't opened your files, but, I suggest that you open the lighting fixture family, click on the light source, click on Light Source definitions, and check the current settings for "Emit Light Shape" and "Light Distribution". Also, if the emit shape is rectangular, make sure that the parameters for width and length of that rectangle are correct for the size of the lighting fixture. The image below does not refer to that family that you are using. I am posting it as as example of the settings that you need to check.
Thanks for the reply dear.
The Emit shape is Line and Distribution is Hemispherical.
I have tried changing the different values for 'Emit from Line Length' parameter many times over but it does not seem to have any effect on final result. What ever value i put in 'Emit from Line Length', the final result remains the same with dense light at center.
Also, I was wondering, what is the use of 'Light source symbol size' parameter. Whatever size i choose, it does not change any thing in final output rendered image .
Thanks
If you can find the manufacturer IES file for this fixture then use it with the Photometric Web option. Below is using your settings, but with (2) 4'-0" fixtures in lieu of (1) 8'-0" fixture.
Thanks for the reply dear @ToanDN .
That is a good work around. But it does not solve the basic issue that even if it is a 4' long lighting fixture, it ought to emit light evenly along the 4' length and not concentrate light in center.

What's your quality setting? How about changing this to High and above? Do you see the expected result?
'High' setting solves the issue. Thanks dear @yurikim .
i have one more related query.
What is the role of 'Light source symbol size' parameter, what is its utility ?
regards
Glad that it helped. 🙂
For the light source symbol size, you can refer to this:
Reception view , Please look at the ceiling cove light ... Whats wrong with modeling... I used uplight Strip ceiling light.... and high setting rendering...
Please keep in mind that Revit linear lighting is not good, it will not spread the light well if you put the lights side by side. So don't get your hopes up, it will work properly in 3ds Max with iray, Octane or Corona.
