Combining multiple parametric familes

Hello

I have scoured forums and youtube trying to find the solution to this but with no luck.

I have two parametric families that were built by a colleague (who I am unable to ask) which I have edited to suit current requirements. One of these is nested with a few different families and various adjustable properties and the other is single family with various adjustable properties

I am looking to combine the nested family with the other family so that both of their properties show in the type properties when loaded into a project. However, at the momment I can only see the parameters of the nested family not the newly added one. This is the same in the family within the family types dialouge box.

I have tried loading the single family into the nested family and also starting from a blank family and loading both in, ensuring the shared is selcted when doing so, but I am lost once I get them both into the same family to know how to combine them.

Appreciate anyon who can help.

Nesting families that you want to control in the parent and reveal for interaction in a project must be "mapped" or "connected" to each other. Any parameter in the nested family you want to control/see in a project will need to be mapped to a corresponding parameter in the hosting/parent family.

It is also possible to change the nested family to a "Shared" status which means instead of the project loading the family as a symbol within the parent it gets loaded into the project as a separate family. This means the nested family could be placed on its own in the project as well as being visible within the parent family it is hosted in. One use case for this scenario is a workstation family that contains individual furniture and equipment that can also be used and counted as individual elements in other conditions within the project.
