Columms not showing in planview when joined with floor and floor is hidden

Hi. 

Me and my colleges have been trying to find a solution to the following problem without success.

When joining a column to a floor and then turn of the visibility of the floor category in any plan view, the columns disappear as well. We believe that this problem originates from the principle that when a column is join with another category it then "becomes apart from the category". 

Is there a way around this unfortunate behaviour?

Silly question, but I've got to ask. Are you sure the Columns disappeared?  You sure they weren't turned off (or outside of the View Range) in the View and what you were seeing was the outline of the "hole" created when joining the Floor and Columns together?
