Hello

When trying to install the COBie 2018 Revit Extension I receive the following error and the install fails:

"Error writing to file: XLConnector.dll.  Verify that you have access to that directory."

Any advice?

Hi @Hugh_Compton

Please see the installation guide for the COBie extension HERE

See links to download the installation file depending on your version of Revit.

Regarding the 'verify access to directory' error please try the following for me.

  • Disable all Anti-virus, Desktop protection, and Local Firewall protection through Windows Service Management. This is only necessary at the time of the creation of administrative images and deployments to required workstations.
  • Configure your Anti-virus, Desktop protection, and Local Firewall protection to temporarily “trust” files that produce the 1304 Error. This is not a recommended procedure. However, you can use this method as a temporary work-around should the primary method fail.

Please select the Accept as Solution button if my post solves your issue or answers your question. Kudos welcome!

Regards,

Hi

With my Anti-Virus disabled completely I managed to get a different error (see attached image).  I am using Revit 2018.1.

I next tried the install again with Revit closed.  This time it asked if I would like to repair COBie Extensions.  After the repair the Extensions appear in the Ribbon (Add-Ins).

I have not tested the Extensions yet to see if they work.

Thanks

Hugh

I've got same issue with you. But my issue has been solved by

I create folder before setting up these plug-in in the path below

C:\Users\***\AppData\Local\Programs\Autodesk\COBie Extension\2018

When you setup, you will see the path was suggested. You need to change the path to new

The setting up will complete
