Changing Personal Appearance Settings

Good morning,

I'm trying to figure out how to change Revit to a gray background and have colors that work within that gray background. At the moment, I'm unsure if there's a way I can change how my Revit displays wall lines. When I changed the background to gray, the walls essentially disappeared because they are displayed in the same color for some reason. The wall is still there, of course, but cannot be seen. Is there a settings location somewhere where I can change how my walls display without changing project-specific settings?

Are you wanting to change it Globally?

Is that a Wireframe View or an Underlay or both?

If I understand what you're asking, yes. Whenever I open a model I'd like my colors to be specific to my machine/Revit.

If you want to change the Underlay:

If you want every Project to use the same Underlay Settings, you would need save your Underlay Settings to an RTE (Template File) and use that RTE to start New Projects.

Sorry, I didn't see the other part of your post. It's not an underlay, it's a ceiling plan.

And I think you are in Wireframe

Go to Manage > Object Styles. There you can change the colors of the lines for the entire project.

Tip: Save it on your template to avoid having to do this again

Sorry, that's not quite what I'm looking for. I'm sorry for not being clear enough in my descriptions; this is tricky to describe.  I'm looking to change the colors that Revit displays my walls and other items as, similar to the way it allows you to change the colors in the picture below. I cannot change it in the View Template as that would override everyone else's graphics who work in white backgrounds. I'm looking to change my personal appearance of items in Revit that isn't project specific, like background color.

Oh, i see now. You are trying to do as in AutoCAD right? I don't think that this is possible. I guess that the "best" option would be to create a view template you your preferences. This way, you and everyone else could easily change back and forth between the colors.

There are two ways to approach this. Whatever you choose, make your own view template(s).

You could make your own views for working with your preferred settings.

Alternatively, you can use temporary view properties:

I use this one quite frequently because I can work in the view that goes on the sheet and don't have to worry about changing the settings back afterwards.

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.

I thought you said you wanted to apply changes Globally. Well, View Template ain't going to get you there. A Project Template (RTE) will -- along with those Graphic settings under Options, which you obviously found because your screenshot shows a Grey background color. BUT, you CAN set up Revit's default display to be EXACTLY like AutoCAD's.  I know this for a fact, because I did it years ago when I first began using Revit.  I showed you a number of Settings that would need to be changed to do that. There are others that you may have already discovered for yourself.
