central model keeps inaccessible

Help....
We receive models from third parties. Now it doesn't matter which model I open, but with every change/adjustment I want to make, I get the message that the central model is not accessible and that it is therefore not possible.

If I want to adjust a view template, I get the message.
If I want to know about a family, I will receive the message.
When I want to add a column to a schedule, I get the message.
When reloading/unloading or deleting links, I get the message.

Really for every simple thing I want to do and that is very frustrating.

Opening the model as detached is not possible because the selection box is grayed out.

If I first save the model to a different location/disk and open it from there instead of a network, these problems are not resolved.

How can I solve this?

I use Revit 2023.0.11.19

Try to save as a new central model.

Please mention Revit version, especially when uploading Revit files.

Hello Louis,
I also tried this already but it didn't work.

Due to the type of project, not everyone is allowed to work on this project/with these models, everyone needs certain documents for this. It is therefore on an extra-highly secured drive. If something ends up on the street because of me, I will literally and figuratively be on the street.

Maybe that has something to do with the fact that I keep getting the message that the central model is not accessible.

Then you should take it up with the IT department and have them look at access rights and se e how it can be resolved.

You need to open the model using "detach from central" and then save as a new central model.

Hello RSomppi1,
As I described in my message, this option is not possible because the selection box "detach from central" is grayed out

Then it's not a central model. Did you try Save As and save it as a new project?

Sorry, forgot about that.

Since you can't save it either, I think the sender needs to resend it in an appropriate state. They may have sent a local file.

Hi,

I think that (can) happen if the model comes from a BIM360 (or it's newer version)

See:

https://www.autodesk.com/support/technical/article/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Detach-from-Centra...

Open the model, then save-as with the option "Make this a Central model" checked.

Hello TripleM-Dev.net
Because several parties are working on this entire project, it was a requirement that they all work with just the Revit 2023 program. This is to prevent problems.
The use of BIM360 or Revit 2024 is therefore not permitted.

Despite that, thank you very much for your help! The problem has now been resolved and I can do whatever I want without always getting that message.
