Ceiling hosted family always shown on floor plan

Hi All,

Even if I create a simple generic model ceiling hosted family from scratch  (also tried face hosted) with a simple extrusion 1' thick, it always shows on the floor plan too.  My ceiling is 9' and my cut plane is 5'.

The extrusion hangs below the ceiling.  If I look at it in section it's placed correctly on the ceiling.

This should work, right?

Generic model category elements show even they are above the cut plane but under the Top of the view range.  use a different category.

Thank you SO much!  I had already changed the category to casework and thought that changing the category had no effect...not knowing that casework was the only other Category that wouldn't work.
