Hello fellow Revit Users,

I'm starting out in Revit and I need your help.

Starting a new family file, I have an introductory text placed on my canvas. But I cant delete it.

Thanks for reading my message,

best wishes,

Oliver

The delete button on your keyboard doesn't work?

Is it a profile family template? Don't worry about it.

No it does not. All the usual ways of deleting do not work. The fact that the option delete is grayed out, after right clicking the element, tells me it has something to do with the settings in revit. I think the text field is protected from being deleted by revit. But why?

I do not know what its called in the englisch version, but it is the default template of the templates, where no assumptions are made. Yes I have read that you cant delete some instances in many templates.

But this feels very strange, because the note explicitly tells me to delete it before loading the family in a project.

...use a different template if you don't want the text note. Still, why do you want to delete it? If it is a Profile Template for a specific type of Profile, use a Generic Profile Template and change the Profile Usage under the Properties.

If you use generic annotation family template and switch it to the other family type category, does that work?

Ok, I do unterstand. As I said im just starting out. I thought i'm overlooking something simple.

If this is normal and not a problem at all, I will just continue to learn the basics. I just got confused by the message, which tells me to delete it.

But Ive opened different templates and several of them contained instances which cant be deleted. Like annotations for example. So I'll read more into the basics, before I bother you guys with this issue.

Thank you very much for your answers!

Best wishes,

Oliver

you are right to question it. You should be able to delete that text note. Did @syman2000's suggestion work?
