cannot see level head in 3D view

i have a 3D view, and when i click the level, i see the level head. but it does appears if the level isn't selected.

It is the same head as in section views (those work). visibility of levels is enabled.

the view is cropped, so the level extends outside the visible region. it seems 3D view level heads don't have the 2D/3D feature where you can move the head in 2D mode without changing the actual 3D level extent (I don't want to change the level extents, but want to change the 2D annotation). Is this a weird limitation in Revit, or is there a trick?

I "see" this from time to time. Changing the view orientation or zoom usually fixes it, although temporarily.

I noticed zooming and/out also can make it appear or disappear. The problem is, it is inconsistent and also won't show up on PDF.

Does locking the view help at all?

I should have mentioned, those views are locked, annotated and placed on sheets.

Are you saying that even when they do show, they don't print?

I don't think I've seen that before but most of my 3D views don't have levels on. I also don't think there is a fix at this time other than to mimic the level head with annotation.

i haven't been able to determine if them showing up in Revit, mean they show up on PDF. It is very recent that is tarted to pay attention to that but in Revit, they appear and disappear at will depending on zoom level (which isn't related to PDF creation). The way I noticed it was it not being on PDF.

So far I haven't used them a lot either. But i thought, it looks nice to add the level as a reference in 3D views. Like Plumbing isometrics etc.

This project is going out for bid now and I won't fiddle with this anymore. But for new projects I definitely will pay more attention and see if there is a way to make it to the PDF, even if Revit doesn't show it all the time.
