Cannot edit nested family

I have a nested family and I'm trying to edit the shared family within the nested family, but its not allowing me to edit. when I click on edit family nothing happens, any solutions?

Is it native Revit geometry? If it is a solid from another program it could prevent you from editing.

Otherwise, check if the nested family has the exact name as its parent. If so, save the family with another name.

Maybe the nested family has the same name as the host family? First rename the nested family before trying to edit

Yes you were right, the nested family had the same name as the host family that's why it wasn't working. Thanks!

I'm pretty sure I know what's going on. I went through this a couple of weeks ago. You've accidentally nested the host family into it's own nested family. Probably happened when you loaded the host into the project and the nested family checkbox was checked as well.
