Can you convert CAD files to detail/model lines?

Sorry if this question has already been posted, I couldn't find it.

I have a very large imported .dwg file that I need to build a floor plan on. So far I can only think of clicking on each individual element to convert them into lines, but is there an easier way to convert elements of a .dwg file to detail/model lines? I've attached a screenshot below.

I hope you linked the file rather than imported it.

Use Revit walls, doors, windows, etc. to trace over it. Converting it to native Revit 2D elements is a waste of time. If that's all you need, just link the .dwg without converting it.

Linking is typically better than importing, and if you want to trace you should do what @RSomppi said. 

To answer your question though it is possible to import DWG file into Revit and convert it into Revit lines

1. Insert Tab -> Import Panel -> Import CAD
2. Select the imported DWG in any view
3. A Modify tab will pop up
4. Hit Explode

So basically, you want to convert AutoCAD elements to Revit elements. No can do.  

Linking/Importing makes no difference here and Exploding CAD in Revit is generally a no-no.

If the CAD file is just lines, and you would like to transfer over these lines to Revit, what's wrong with importing & exploding?

I'm not saying it's wrong, per se.   We do it around here for family creation mostly.  It's generally a no-no to Explode in the Project. It introduces a lot of crap that needs to be cleaned up and/or managed.   It's not a seamless translation.

I wouldn't explode CAD because Revit treat each line as an object. I would link it as a reference. For hatch, you can download from here
