Can't select objects in model - in any view, any phase

I have a building model where suddenly I cannot seelct many of the objects - walls, floors, roofs, doors, windows, generic models, etc. Some objects randomly are selectiable, and many are not. I cannot select them in any view - plan, section, elevation, 3D, or in any pahse.

These pbjects won't highlight when I place the cursor over/on them, and they do not select when dragging a box around/over/through them.

The model was created and is being used in Revit 2015. The project is an existing hsoue with an addition. It appears that the objects that will not slect are in the new construction phase; all existing objects are selectable. And it's not all of the new construction objects, just some of them.

Is the model corrupt? Is my installation corrupt? I am not having this problem in any other models.

Hi @Anonymous

Have a good day!

I don't think delete the level is good choice even if is a special level for topo link only. If only you work with that file, maybe don't have any problem, but..... You cannot return if you delete the level, especially it's central data.

it's very high risk way!

Thank you!

I understand that this problem will have been resolved by now however, I experienced the same problem but resolved this with a different solution.

Underlay section within the Properties tab will allow you change the way the Model appears in a Plan View.

It also affects which elements you can select. I found that I could not select (MEP) Elements when Base Level and Top Level are associated to the Floor Levels. See below:

To stop this select None within Range: Base Level options:

This should allow you to select all Elements within the View Range on your View Plan.

This solved my problem as well.  What a crappy default for beginners.

I tried all of the suggestions above and none of them worked in my file.  After more investigation and I finally found a solution after checking the properties palette.

It's the discipline that needs to be set to Architectural.  It wasn't set to Architectural initially but the file is coming from the architect (go figure.)

Anyway, once it's set to Architectural and everything can be highlighted again.  See attached snapshot.

Hi every one, I just have ethe same Problem. But it is not about  the Select option on the upper left corner or the under right corner,  it is also not about design option!  I can select all rooms, axises and tags, but cannot select the building part, like concrete wall, flooring and so on.

Does someone have the same problem?

Bests,

When selecting the element in my case columns, you can change the placement either Depth or Height, when selecting Depth you won´t be able to select the element after placed opposite to when you select Height when you are able to select the object after placement.

Thank you for your assistance. For me, the solution did lie in the bottom right hand corner. The non ability to select pinned elements was turned on. Thank you.

hi , its not working. its neither because of design option nor of the arrows in right corner. what else could be the reason.

Not sure that the issue I was having is the same as those above, but I had been using design options, and accepted my primary option. After I did that I was unable to select the items from that accepted option, and the option set no longer existed in the design option menu. Turns out its a very simple fix, that I hadn't seen online: there is a checkbox in the bottom toolbar, where the workset and design option dropdown boxes are located, that says "Exclude Options" (to the right of the design option toggle). If you uncheck this box it allows you to select those items.
