I recently started to have more accurate level extends and only have the level reach as far as it actually is. for example a garage with mezzanine will have that mezzanine level only go as far there is actually mezzanine. I use scope boxes to define the level extend and those also help me to limit the mezzanine floorplan.
the advantage is, those levels don't clutter up views in other areas of the building where those levels don't exist. In previous projects where the levels exceeded further than in real life, i had to manually unhide those levels.
but now i learn about an issue, in that a section that is placed outside the level, but it "looks" into the area the level is
See below. Highlight yellow is my section and i attempt to show what is in the wall. Red is the section box that the level is tied to. Blue is how far that section "looks".
the way it is, the level is NOT shown in the section view. but if i move the section as far as the wall (within the scope box), the level becomes visible. but that is too close for me to show what I want to show.
Is there a way to make a level visible even if the section symbol is outside?
Possible workarounds are to extend the level further. but since the section box also serves to control the extend of the views of that level, I would have to either create new scope box just for the level, or not use scope boxes for levels.
The behavior of section is similar foe elevation views. but for elevation views i can separate where the symbol is vs. where it starts to "see".
I tried to play with far clipping options to no avail.
Or is there a completely different approach? I really like the use of scope boxes.
Maybe I should just use elevation views since that is more the application. but i like the section view for elevation views since it shows how "wide" a view is if I don't show the entire wall.
