I am currently running the latest version of Revit 2019. I have been working on a model all day with the assumption that auto-save is in effect. I went to Save before closing out of the file and was informed that Revit is in Viewer Mode and therefore cannot. I am absolutely certain I am not in viewer mode.

I have also attempted to create a new file and Save that one as well with the same result. There is no warning or prompt when creating or opening a file that informs me I am entering into Viewer Mode, and the Windows Title Bar does not display "Viewer Mode" in the text.

Autodesk also auto-downloaded 2020 in the background while I was working. Maybe related?

Has your Trial Period Expired?

Were you prompted to activate when you launched?

See if the information helps:

I have been a paying subscriber for nearly a year, so no trial period is in effect and I was not prompted to activate.

More than just related. It was the cause.

See this for 2020. I think 2019 needs to be reinstalled unless a fix has been released.

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.
