Can't Put Beams on Level 2

I am trying to place beams on Level 2 by selecting all grids, but keep getting an error message that “no beams were added to the document during this operation”. It works fine if I put the beams on Level 1 and give them an offset equal to height of Level 2. What am I doing wrong?

You need columns at the grid intersections.

I had the same problem. You don't need columns at the grids.

Revit needs to identify the intersection of grids, and it can only do that if you select all the grids that intersect with each other forming a cross. Therefore it wont work in parallel grids!

Make sure you select the vertical and horizontal grids in which the columns are supposed to be added.
