Can't place wall based balcony family onto an ETICS wall composed of joined layers - „instance not cutting anything”

I created a wall based family of a precast concrete balcony on a load bearing thermal break, that suppose to adhere to the structural wall from the outside and cut out the thermal insulation/external finish where the balcony intersects them (to acheve the last goal, I added a parametrized void).
Another issue is, that due to our client's requirements, the ETICS wall is modelled with four separate walls, joined afterwards, so the windows can cut their openings through all layers (which they do properly).
The insertion point of the balcony's family is set to the core centerline of the structural wall. The reference plane called „Back” (present in wall-based family by default) is not linked to any of my geometry.
Unfortunately, when I'm trying to place the balcony, I keep getting the message, that instance [of my balcony] is not cutting anything. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?
