Can't delete a linked Revit file

Hi,

I'm using Revit 2018.3, and I have 8 Revit files linked into this, but one file has a big red X next to it at the bottom of the Project Browser. When I open 'Manage Link's, I only see 7 linked file - the 8th file (with the X) is not here...

When I right-click on the file in the Project Browser, the options to reload/delete are greyed out. If I try and Reload it, it doesn't work either. 

Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

pick Reload From... and pick the file from the folder to reload it.

It's in a Workset that is closed.

I've tried that, but it doesn't save anything. The screenshot that I took was after I'd tried 'Reload From'.

I'm stumped on this one...

Thanks for the advice, but all worksets are open. 

If it was on a closed workset, would it be visible in the 'Manage Links' box?

so you have used Reload From... and picked the file to reload  and still nothing.... and the workset is Open.... interesting.... 

only other time i have seen that is when the linked file is missing (someone delete it). in which case i will use the Reload From and pick another file to load so i can remove it.

Thanks for everyone's input, but nothing's working. I tried all of the options in the 'whilesyncing' blog, but they don't work. 

I've attached a screenshot showing that while the link is shown in my Project Browser, it's not visible in my 'Manage Links' box. It's like it doesn't exist in my model, but I can't reload or unload it. And I really need this link...!

All of my worksets are open, but how would I find out what workset the linked file is on?

Have you tried closing and relaunching?

I found a solution... 

I right-clicked on the link in the Project Browser > Select All Instances > In Entire Project. I selected it, unpinned it, and hit delete.

I could then select 'Delete' from the pop-up options when right-clicking on the file in the Project Browser.

I've now reloaded it back into the project. Not the best solution, but it worked. 

I still don't understand why it wasn't showing up in the 'Manage Links' box...

Strange. I can't wrap my brain around this solution.  What version of Revit are you on?   And you aren't using Worksets?

And afterwards, right click in the link that you can find in the project browser and select create instance
