Browser Organisation - Filter sheets by scale hides all sheets

Hello Forum,

I am creating a browser organisation for sheets that will allow me to filter sheets according to a specific scale. However, when I apply the filter using "Scale equal to 1:50 (scale from the dropdown list)" all the sheets disappear. 

If I try to use "not equal to", despite selecting a certain scale, Revit shows all the sheets independently from its scale.

Any thoughts on what is happening?

Maybe not using Filtering by Scale but Grouping by Scale.

I don't see how this could work. No matter the scale of the view(s) on the sheet, the sheet scale is always 1:1.

Unfortunately that only groups sheets but if I want to hide/filter information it won't be possible as I will have all the sheets on the project browser in the end. 

It is a workaround but not the same thing.

So why have the possibility to filter by scale?
Sure you are working at 1:1 scale but your views and sheets will have a relation to the "printable"/exportable scale.
Revit literally shows that information if you sort/group sheets/views by scale. So, the information is there but it is simply not working when used as a filter.

It's not a great idea to hide/omit sheets from the browser.  Some people may try adding new sheets and fail because of sheet number conflict and they will waste their time and yours to figure it out.  With grouping you can just close or open the tree branches as you see fit.

Sheets do not have a scale property, along with a lot of the the other parameters in that list. Again, I don't see how this would work. What if there were more than one viewport with different scales. How would that be accounted for?

But Revit has that possibility available (even if it is not working properly). I am not discussing the intent but something that is available on Revit for selection and it is not working. At the moment it is possible to create a new browser organisation for sheets and filter by scale, the result is not what should be expected because all the sheets will disappear.
For the purpose of clarity, in our case, we use smaller scales in the first stages of the project, even to discuss initial schemas with the client, and then jump to bigger scales when increasing the Level of Information of the model. In bigger projects, we may end with multiple sheets that could simply be filtered avoiding a bigger list of sheets that won't be used anymore but will drastically increase the size of our project browser.

The scale property is automatically filled according to the view scales on your sheet. It is a sheet property and is listed like that even if not directly controlled... that's why Revit allow you to select scale as a property to filter even if it is not working. Regarding the multiple scale views on your sheets, the company standards will define how information is organized and displayed to avoid as possible the "as indicated" text.

If something is available but not working then don't use it.

Closing the tree branches of the grouped sheets does the same thing.

Let's try this one more time.

The scale is not a property of the sheet. Sheets are 1:1. The scale that is displayed in the title block is a property of the viewport(s) on the sheet. This is proven by what you are seeing when you try to filter by scale. It doesn't work.

That is a wrong interpretation... The "Scale" under sheet organization is in fact the OOTB/built Sheet parameter, which when added to a label it reads all the Views Scale(s) parameters from all view ports placed on the sheet and reports either a uni-scale or As Indicated. 

The sheets Scale filter does work; however, only in 2 conditions

• Equal to: As Indicated
• Not Equal to: As Indicated

@AMarqst  is correct this is an option which may have been working as intended by the developers but for sure does not work as expected .. I would classify it under a disputable Bug considering that it has been repeatedly reported (on several forums over the years) yet not tended for by Autodesk

The workaround for such filtering is

1. to add/use a project parameter to sheets category 
2. Could use Dynamo to fill in the values

• Scale is a Parameter related to Sheets Category (not views) with a built in Function to report the scale of all views placed on the sheet
• I am also saying that "it does work" but it seems to be bugged considering that it is not able to process any value except the Text which reads "As Indicated"

You are saying the value is read from the viewport(s). How is that the opposite?

Once again, the scale of the sheet is 1:1. The scale indicated in the title block is the scale of the viewport(s).

It is probably a language barrier...Scroll back and read again. The parameter Scale is a Sheet related parameter with a predefined function to read>>process>>Report ...ie: it is A Sheet parameter similar to Drawn By or Issue Date but with an IF statement 

1. If values are equal => Report Value
2. if values not equal => report As Indicated

A filter is based on the value of Parameter => your emphasis on the scale of the sheet and scale of the view ports is irrelevant. Regardless of the scale of the sheet or the views on it, the filter should be able to read the value of the parameter. In the present code is not functioning as expected.

It's a logic barrier.

A 24"x36" sheet is still 24"x36" no matter what the scale in the title block says unless you print it on a different size sheet. The scale in the title block still says the same thing no matter what size you print it on. You would need a different scale parameter for that. Not the one for the viewport(s).

Sheets don't have a scale factor.
