Brick wrapping at curtain wall

I guess Revit will not wrap bricks at the insert of a curtain wall.  Is this correct?  I really would like it to work like a door.  

Any Thoughts?

Unfortunately, it doesn't do on default.

If you do have also wraps on ends then editing and locking the profile of the wall to your curtain wall will solve it.

If you don't have wraps on the ends you could use a wall opening family constraint to your curtain wall.

As @Avaris. has said if you cut a wall opening first.. But it does work and I have used this method before. Hope this helps.

Ok. but how do I get the brick to wrap correctly. The CMU usually continues all the way to the curtain wall opening.  The brick will turn back and stop at the outside face of the CMU.

Yeah I see what you mean. This time I've inserted a structural opening. (Door without a door essentially)  so now the warping for the curtain wall acts like a door which is pretty much what you were looking for initially. Hopefully this is of use to you!

I don't mean to be rude but I only find one type of opening in my Revit.  Wall Opening on the Architecture Tab and Wall Opening on the Structure Tab do the exact same thing.  Not sure where the Structural Opening is.

You have to use a family, not the Opening tools. Create a family using a door family template, draw the Opening Cut, draw the reference planes and set them to Wall Closure. These Wall closure planes dictate the wrapping when you place this family in a wall in project.

yeah as @ToanDN has said I used a door opening its within the default door family folder under door-structural door opening. not one of the wall opening tools.

Wow.  I don't mean to be negative but is it really this difficult to simply put in a curtain wall and wrap brick correctly?  Is there any better way to get this done?

But if I add a door family to create the opening, then I have this bogus opening in my door schedule.  How do I solve that?

Ok.  One more question.  We usually show Aluminum storefront/curtain wall elevations on a separate sheet from our elevations.  This is where we dimension all the curtainwalls.  How do I display them.  Doors I simply add them as a Front View Legend component.  I cannot add a curtainwall to a legend as a legend component.

- Create an elevation and isolate the curtain wall

- Or, Create Assembly from the curtain mullions and panels of the curtain wall and create assembly view in substitute for a legend

Just a standard elevation view but with everything else hidden off. Then you can add any dimensions or annotation you need. hope this has been of use to you!

I found a simple solution for getting the material to show up in 3D views.  Edit the wall profile and created an outline of the opening that is aligned to window opening. I only did a small portion of the width of the window and not the height and it understood I wanted to the see the brick material in the sides of the opening.

This solution is just for renderings I believe.

Dear Autodesk

since installing Revit 2024 I have been impressed by the new features and refinement of some old features. Alarmingly there are some major omissions with existing tools which still haven't been rectified. Controlling wall insert wraps on curtain walls is one. Why use a dummy door/window to form the opening when a curtain wall has an embed function, and in 2024 even a cut option!? Can a curtain wall please tell a wall to wrap at the inserts! Pretty please!

This is totally true. It's unbelievable that Revit doesn't allow yet the correct wall layers wrapping for curtain walls. Hopefully they integrate that in 2025 🤞🏻
