blue intersection grip not appearing

if anyone could please help

I'm trying to learn revit. I'm currently in chapter 5 of Autodesk Revit Architecture 2016: Dimensioning and Annotating.

under Dimensioning an angle my instructions are to:

zoom in on 45 degree angle intersection

annotate tab>pick aligned button>pick individual prefrences

hover pointer over the inside face of the brick in the angled wall

tap the tab key until you see the square grip appear(the illustration shows a blue box or grip for the intersection)

I tab key repeatedly and cycle through the walls and centerlines but no intersection ever appears. ive also typed SI and get nothing but a chime.

I have wasted an entire day and night on this

I have also gone manage>snaps and made sure intersections is checked.

I am hopelessly stuck, please help

There is a lot to learn. Don't get stuck on this, wasting your precious time. Skip it and try something else. 

Maybe this is what the author is trying to describe?

from 2:20 to 3:29 is what I am trying to accomplish. again I have all the settings he is using but the intersection box NEVER appears

Sorry, I don't know how to help you more about this issue.

My guess is that you're attempting to pick the POINT first.  Pick the wall face first and THEN try to pick the point.  Hover your mouse over the intersecting point and press tab until you see the intersection indicator (don't move your mouse or you'll have to start over).

This is the only option I have found to possibly work. However, when I delete the door I get the error message: "One or more dimension references are or have become invalid."
