BIM Object Add-in is missing in Revit 2018

I'm trying to download the BIM Object free exchange app for Revit 2018 since the Autodesk seek is missing from the insert tab. I get a warning reading, can't download BIM Object app.

Has anyone else has this issue? Is there a fix for this problem?

Sounds like a local issue - I just downloaded and installed BIM Object with no issues.

But when I try to use the app, this is the error message that I get -

@brianwclayton1969 is this what is happening to you?

Hi @brianwclayton1969

I agree with @Sahay_R

Please see Troubleshooting: Ribbon Tabs and Tools which provides a solution when we cannot locate a tab in the ribbon or a tool in the user interface.

Also, update your Revit 2018 with latest updates using the Desktop App.

After installing, did you receive the message below?

Signed Add-inSigned Add-in

See Toolbar next to Extensions tab: (BIM Object is a separate tab - not in Insert tab)

BIM object location.JPG

Please select the Accept as Solution button if my post solves your issue or answers your question. Kudos welcome!

@Viveka_CD - did you see the error message that I added to my previous post? Could that be the PO's original problem?

Hi @Sahay_R and @brianwclayton1969

Just wondering if we are talking about the same version - 4.1.70.0 and installed the updates from the toolbar

I tried installing BIM Object on 2 machines with Revit 2018 and it seems to work as designed. I browsed for new objects and was able to use them in a 2018 project file.

I will follow up with a screencast

Let's wait to hear back from @brianwclayton1969 and if has an update.

Regards,

OK, @Sahay_R I checked Revit 2017 (2017.2.3 update) and it works fine.

Below is some information on the help page in BIM Objects:

BIMobject® App for Revit

The app works with Revit 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018

Versions:

4.1

  • Added support for Revit 2018
  • Authentication using BIMobject log-in functionality and option to sign in using Autodesk, Google and LinkedIn
  • Resized dialogues
  • Last visited page is retained during a session
  • Added option to specify object download location

3.2

  • Dialogues are centered on screen, layout and dialogue size are retained between sessions
  • Fixed import for BIMobject properties for system families
  • Fixed bug when importing values with localised characters
  • Fixed bug when importing numbers based on locale settings
  • Updated tool and product names

Installation:

  1. Install the BIMobject Revit App from the Autodesk App Store
  2. In the app, press any of the buttons to Login or Create a new BIMobject account to start using the features

Go through of the app

Hope that helps.

OK @Viveka_CD - it looks like the only part of the process that I missed was the log-in.

Try [Save] instead of [Run], then run the saved file.

I have no problem downloading it here.  Maybe try a different browser.

I got it to download. I want to thanks everyone for their assistannce in this solution. Here is what I found out. I did use a diferent browser but I don't think that was the issue.

When you go to the search bar in the Exchange apps and typ in BIM Objects two selections appear, if you select the BIMObject (WITHOUT) the registered trademark adn select the BIMObject that is plain you will get 2 versions of BIM Object.

(1) for 64 Bit and (1) for 32 Bit and 64 bit select the one for 64 bit ONLY that is the 4.1.0 version that is the most current version the 32 bit and 64 bit is the 2.1 version.

As soon as I selected the 64 Bit version only everything worked perfectly.

Again I appreciate everyone's assistance.
