Beams system - only showing dotted lines and no annotations

Hello - I have  a beam system that is a 2x4 and I want the outline of the 2x4 to show. Right now it's only showing dotted lines as a beam system view. 

2nd, I need them to also be annotated once we get them as viewable. Not sure why this is causing me such issues.

If I see a toilet, this is probably a floor plan with a typical cut plane at 4 feet. And this view in an existing phase. Are you aware of those two things? That can affect what you see.

If you want to the see the outline of your beams, try going to a reflected ceiling plan or to a structural plan, and set the detail level to medium or coarse.

Yes, but when I do that I lose other things. So, I either need to use an
RCP view, or duplicate the view and then change the view range.

If the beams are above then turn on Underlay and set to look up.

And you can linework them so they show up in the floorplan even if the underlay is set to none.

What dou mean? Line work them?

this sort of works, but in one of the RCP's the roof beam system is sloped so it's grayed out compared to the 1st Floor RCP which has the beams as dark lines. Not sure how to edit view range to capture all the sloped beam system in all black AND without also seeing the 2nd floor floor joists via the 1st floor RCP.

 This is a floorplan. Here I have beam and ceiling edges done with Linework tool that can be found under modify tab. This way I can tag the ceilings and beams because the lines are overridden by the Linework tool. It is a view dependent tool.

My work flow for the override is the following. Activate underlay, linework one edge of the categories needed (example. ceiling and beam), deactivate underlay, tag objects you have lineworked (example ceiling and beam), select at least one element of lineworked categories you wish to see (one ceiling and one beam), select at least one of each tags that are tagging each lineworked categories (so one that is tagging the beams, one that is tagging ceiling), temporary isolate categories, activate underlay again, linework all the rest and tag all needed, deactivate underlay.
