Automatic adjust aligned dimension

Hello,

When i manually put a aligned dimension on a wall, i would like to adjust it directly. Now you have to place dimensions, escape and select the wall , select dimension to enter a new dimension.

Is there a way to do that ? I have a project with +1000 walls where a lot has to been changed, so it would gain me certainly some time.

Can't you just move the walls?  The dimensions will adjust themselves.

Are you asking how to automate the process of Placing the Aligned dimensions? OR are you asking how to automate the input into the aligned dimension? If the latter:

1. Are you talking about the length or height? 
2. All 1000 walls are all to receive the same change (example: extend all walls 2' 10" kinda change)
3. Or each change in dimension would be applicable to all walls of the same type?
4. Or is the change variable from wall to wall?

This is not really a solution, but theoretically you can assign global parameters to same dimensions with a label. If you have these dimensions to a fixed point you can adjust these distances at once. Bit hard to control though perhaps.

Far less trouble to adjust the walls though probably, it's unclear why that's not an option for you.

You can do what you said through the temp dimensions as well (Try it, just off to the side draw 2 random walls, click on one and adjust the number of the temp dimension that appears), it does not have to be an annotated dim. However, if you already have a dim line between the walls, this will disable the temp dimensions.

i will explain with a sample.

I have a plan from architect with some dimensions on it. Now the constructor  have taken measurements between walls where there is no revit dimension, or i need to add an new wall  with a distance from another point in the building.

I have to change the plan of architect to the new dimensions (dimensions between walls)

now i have to put a dimension between walls to check it,  escape , select wall , select dimension , adjust it..

If you select the wall you will get a temporary dimension, as mentioned, no need to place a dimension? Probably still don't quite understand, perhaps add a screenshot?

Edit: do you mean because the architects dimensions are there already, you dont get temporary dimensions? Because then duplicate the view without annotations (right click view in projects browser) and move the walls in the new view... should get your temp dim then...

 FWIW:

When you select a Wall, Revit shows Temporary Dimensions.  Those are dynamic dimensions that you can reference and use to reposition a Wall.  Once the Wall is correctly placed, you can turn that Temporary Dimension into a Permanent Dimension.
