Attach and detach not working properly

When I attach the exterior walls to the floor above they do not attach properly like the wall in the middle. Only one layer stops at the floor level 2 while the remaining layers remain unconnected. Why is this?

Is that a floor element or roof element?

If you used a roof element, that is how it behaves when extended to core. Either use a Floor element or if you want to continue using roof, edit it and align the sketch lines to the outer most finish layer of the wall

Thank you that fixed the problem. But now I'm a little bit confused which is best to use?

Use whichever is best for the application you need it for!

Both tools have some similar options and each have certain particular ones which are used for particular applications (example: the rafter cut and overhang in a roof OR the analytical properties in a floor) ... For structural applications a floor element suits best. another example is if  you want to copy monitor structural elements from the structural model...roof elements cannot be copied and monitored

In terms of behavior, well you have noticed one with respect to how walls attach and detach to a roof vs floor. Another is for instance the placement...Floors are placed Level Down but Roofs are placed Level/UP which could also effect your plan view in terms of graphics as well as placing/hosting and selecting other elements which are floor based...

You may be interested in a workaround I use often.  Walls can attach to Reference Planes as well. Do you know that?  Check it out. Place a Ref. Plane on top of Floor or Roof, and the select it as the "Attach Top/Base" target.  Cool, huh?
