Assigning room numbers to mailboxes

Hey,

We have a project with 700 rooms and we would like to assign the room number to the corresponding mailboxes and the storage lockers in the basement that belong to each apartment. We do that manually now, but is very time consuming and changes may occure. Is there any way to automate this process ?

Thank you.

you can place a room in each mail box as associate it to..... NO just kidding..... 😀

Seriously though this sounds like a good use for Dynamo to me. dynamo should allow you to read the rooms and assign them to tags on the mail boxes.

unfortunately i'm not as familiar with Dynamo as i should be. its on my list of things for this year. there are tons of resources out there though. i know ArchSmarter has some good courses. i also refer to AU Online Classes all the time too.

I like the tag-renumbering tool which is part of CADdaddy Tools for Revit from CADdaddy.com, which will renumber any kind of tag. In the example below, I created a generic mailbox family, arrayed them as shown, tagged them with a generic tag that displayed the Mark, not the default Type Mark, then used the CADdaddy Renumber Items tool to renumber them in the sequence in which I selected them.

Under "Selection Style" are options for renumbering arrays of items, like RLUD (Right-to-Left, Up-to-Down) which might prove useful with the quantities you are dealing with, although I just picked the ones above in the sequence desired.

Note that this tool works only on tags, not on plain text elements.

I have a room number schedule and I go box by box/ storage unit by storage unit and write the room number in the mark type parameter field 😄 and then I tag them all.
