Hello,
I have created an assembly that include wall parts.
After creating the assembly I have duplicated it few times.
Later I wanted to make a change in the assembly but unfortunately I couldn't accommodate the change for all the other assemblies in one time (like group).
I made the change, the type name of the assembly was automatically changed but then I tried to match types but revit showed me an error that the assembly cannot be changed to selected type.
It seems that the problem is the parts.
I would be happy to hear if there is a solution for this issue.
Thanks,
Yuval
"These tend to be parts...", so I think you might be right. But couldn't you just copy paste these?
Yes, I can copy paste this but this is not the solution that I am looking for because if for example I already have 20 assemblies in the same type and I have to change something, I don't want to delete all of them and copy and paste them again...
...btw to copy it add the original to the assembly (show both ie.).
Also, I don't really know how to match it if matching doesn't work... I think it doesn't because it creates parts new when copied and then creating a new assembly always? Not sure. I get it's not ideal to copy them... Perhaps instead of using assembly you could group & link it, but also not ideal probably... You'd still have to copy&position them but you could edit the linked file sort of similar to an assembly maybe.
In the view properties, look for "Part visibility" and set to "Show original". That will allow you to select the original wall assembly as a whole and make the changes desired.
use the group and make Assembly from the group.
