Array Detail Item Line based

Hi there, 

I am needing some help with creating a line based detail item. 

I am trying to create a roof profile in section with some fixing points which I want to array. 

I have created the roof profile using detail items in the line based family. For the fixing points, I have made a separate detail item and loaded this into the line based family. 

I have offset this 50 mm from the edge and then arrayed in 350mm. 

What I am not sure of is how to get the array to keep going as I extend the line based family. 

I'm guessing it needs to be some kind of formula but I am not sure what. 

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There is two approach to this. You can go with line base, but the offset will be variable. The other approach is have exactly what you have dimension wise, but you have to number how many strapping along a wall. I've attach a sample so you can see how the family is done.

First one is linebase. You drag the line and the object will increase/decrease base on the line. However the offset will be variable. It will get close to 350 but often it is driven by formula.

The second option is set by number. You put in number, it will array the object. In the type parameter you can control the offset value. The offset is always consistent.

Another approach which is much simpler is using a repeating detail component. There are several of them included in the stock detail library.
