help me understand areabook

1. what are the calculation rules for the "export types"  LA, NRA, GFA
2. how does that compare to the "compute reoom areas at" selection?
3. how do I create the "groups" it is offering to compute?  
4. WHERE does the export file go to after i "calculate".
